Elaine Crossling (Reservist Warrant Office Elaine) from the Trauma Centre, told us that she was very grateful for the donation and that she has already given one of the blankets away to someone who was robbed of all his belongings.
The Trauma Centre is run by Constable Maphanga of the SAPS and a team of volunteers. The Trauma Centre offer a free service to all those people affected by crime, including rape victims and homeless people. The volunteers provide a safe haven, handing out blankets (especially in winter), second-hand clothing and food to the victims while they wait to be referred on.
The Trauma Centre is in need of donations such as second-hand clothing, nappies, blankets, paper plates, cups, packets of food, colouring books, crayons and stationery such as photocopy paper, pens, books for their office.
The Centre is on call 24/7 and the emergency number is 083 458 5887. The volunteers can be found on the Randburg Reservist website.
